Sydney Pollack

Every now and then you will hear about someone's death, and even though you don't know them, you will have an immediate feeling of shock and sadness. That is what happened when I found out that Sydney Pollack died on Monday. Pollack was on my list of people who I had hoped to one day get to have a conversation with, and he will be greatly missed.

Scott Van Pelt Is Welcome at Bro-Time

That's Mike and I having bro-time.  A time when we would bring the stereo to the kitchen, turn on some sweet tunes (often times the Four Brothers soundtrack, check it out), drink scotch, smoke cigars and have a great time.  Some of the legendary bro times occurred when more of our close friends would converge on that porch, and all night sessions of talking, drinking, smoking, etc. would occur.

Based on this awesome voicemail, by our favorite Sports Center anchor, Scott Van Pelt, I'm sure he would be able to fit in quite easily to the conversation at one of our bro-times.  And if he reads this, he should e-mail me and we will invite him to one.

You're the man, SVP.  Keep being you.

Air Zoom Hayward +3

I love Nike, I always have.  Being from Eugene, Oregon, I consider buying Nike's, "supporting local business."  This new Nike is quite possibly the coolest Non-Jordan pair of Nike's I've ever had the pleasure of owning.  It's named after the University of Oregon's world famous Hayward Field, and based off of the designs of Steve Prefontaine himself.  It is amazingly comfortable, and this might not end up being the only color combination I purchase.

That Flaw Is Hot

I'm into, "flaws" these days, but from now on I'm calling them, "Beauty Marks.".   What I find beautiful is someone who embraces what they were given and treats themselves and their bodies with the love and respect they both deserve.

I'm not trying to pretend that I no longer care about looks, I'm just saying that as I mature, I mature.  For too long I've only been interested in girls that fit a certain mold, and I'm finally starting to see that it's what makes a person unique that makes them beautiful, not the other way around.

Things I Liked This Week

The Yankees: I went to my first Yankees game this weekend, and it was a great baseball experience.  The Dodgers are still my team these days, but I will gladly play the part of a Yankees fan whenever I get the chance.

iTunes Rentals:  This weekend I did some travelling (see above) to visit family, and I decided to further embrace the digital age, by
experimenting in an iTunes movie rental on my MacBook Air.  I rented Tootsie for the flight home, and both the movie and the renting experience were great.  I'm all about the all digital, no disc world that we are entering.  (I'm also really against it.  It's a long complicated story.)

TYFTWD:  One of my favorite musicians, and for that matter,
entertainment entities, took to the internet this weekend to expand the creation experience.  John Mayer had a Take Your Fans To Work Day (TYFTWD) on his blog, in which he posted videos and photos, and writings throughout a day in the studio, as he works on his new album/tour.  Check it out at www.johnmayer.com/blog

Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends:  Coldplay released, Violet Hill, the first song off
of their new album as a free download on www.coldplay.com .  The band, the song, and the free download promotion concept are all great.  As is the album artwork.

Iron Man: The cast is phenomenal, and one of my heroes, the original Swinger himself, Jon Favreau
directs his way into a great comic book franchise.  He's like this big bear, with these big fucking claws, and it's so money.  And, by the way, Gwyneth looks as good as ever.

Obama:  This isn't specific to this week, but it's just important.  I think Obama is the best candidate we've had in a long time.  And hopefully this will be a big week for him.  Not to mention, this is a cool poster.

NICE. DANG. PAES.

About to hit El Sombrero, or as the hipsters say, "The Hat."

More words to come.
